Country Profile • Politik: Tunisia berada dalam keadaan transisi sejak Presiden Zine Al-Abidine Ben Ali melarikan diri pada bulan Januari 2011 setelah kerusuhan meluas. • Ekonomi: Ekonomi telah tumbuh. Resesi dunia telah mendorong pengangguran dalam beberapa tahun terakhir. • Internasional: Tunisia memiliki ikatan yang kuat dengan Uni Eropa; penjaga perdamaian yang telah bertugas di beberapa daerah konflik.

Geopolitics of Tunisia • Tunisia di bawah Ben Ali, berdasarkan data dari laporan World Economic Forum (WEF) tahun 2009-2010, disebut sebagai negara paling kompetitif secara ekonomi di Afrika • Ben Ali dipaksa mundur karena gelombang unjuk rasa anti pemerintah. • Revolusi melati di Tunisia (14 Januari 2011)  jatuh dan larinya Presiden Tunisia Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali ke Arab Saudi.

  5. The Changes of Geopolitics Konflik antar negara dan proses demokratisasi di Tunisia, dan kemudian mulai sampai ke Yaman dan Iran  mengakibatkan dinamisasi geopolitik global semakin bergerak cepat.

  6. Implication with External Actors • Krisis Finansial dunia (2008)  harga minyak mencapai 147 dolar AS per barel. • Kemelut geopolitik di Tunisia dan Mesir memicu pasar mendongkrak harga minyak. • Harga minyak melonjak melewati 100 dolar AS per barel.

  7. Cont..... • Tumbangnya Ben Ali, memberikan rasa takut pada para diktator lain yang berada di Timur Tengah dan Afrika. • Selain itu, posisi geopolitik Tunisia menjadi penghubung antara Eropa dengan kawasan utara Afrika atau Arab Magribi.
