2012 Goal

To actively build connections that recognise and celebrate the cultural and religious diversity of our community, as an integral part of our Catholic Identity.

Strategies –

  • Conduct multicultural celebrations or events regularly throughout each year
  • Highlight and recognise, through formal and informal communications, selected feasts, cultural celebrations and international feast days across the calendar year
  • Facilitate and assist those from various cultures at the College in the celebration of their customs and traditions
  • Provide learning opportunities for staff about the different cultures and religious traditions present in the College

ResourceImplications –

  • Minor funding for events, Staff Professional Learning Allocations

Responsibilities/Roles –

  • Director of Faith and Ministry/Learning Enrichment Centre/Leadership Team

Evaluation Measures –

  • Broad offering of events and celebrations reflective of the community
  • Attendance and participation in events
  • Staff and student awareness and understanding of cultural and religious diversity

Teaching and Learning

2012 Goal

To continue to improve student engagement and learning across all year levels.

Strategies –

  • To review the current Year 7 and 8 curriculum with a focus on student outcomes and engagement
  • To analyse student / College performance data and develop strategies for improvement
  • To review the Year 9 Programme and its impact on student engagement
  • Increase use of Information and Communication Technologies in the learning and teaching environments
  • Implementation of the Future Directions Taskforce, focused on Learning and Teaching

ResourceImplications –

  • Development of working parties as required for the various initiatives and programs
  • Staff Professional Learning on student engagement

Responsibilities/Roles –

  • Staff Teams/Director of Teaching and Learning/Domain Leaders/Teachers/FDT

Evaluation Measures –

  • Number of subjects value-adding at VCE level to increase
  • Higher student engagement rate (various measures, attendance, results, etc.)
  • Decreased number of time-out incidents from classroom situations
  • Improvement in College / individual performance data
pastoral wellbeing
Pastoral Wellbeing

2012 Goal

To further engage staff in the wellbeing and development of students in their care.

Strategies –

  • Continue structured Professional Learning in regard to Pastoral Wellbeing
  • To provide meaningful opportunities for staff to interact with students with whom they teach and/or are responsible for through the Vertical Pastoral Care System
  • To further involve staff members in matters of wellbeing and discipline where appropriate
  • Investigate models of teacher/advisor or the development of Individual Learning Plans facilitated by Pastoral Group Leaders
  • Running of structured Pastoral Group Leader Meetings by the Head of House

ResourceImplications –

  • Time release to allow staff to attend parent meetings and SWAD meetings
  • Time to train/up-skill staff in matters relating to wellbeing and student management (Professional Learning Allocation)

Responsibilities/Roles –

  • Heads of House/Pastoral Group Teams/Pastoral Group Leaders/Leadership Team

Evaluation Measures –

  • Surveys revealing students have a sense of being known, safe and valued members of the College Community
  • Higher student academic outcomes
  • Decreased need for crisis/post counselling intervention and programmes

2012 Goal

To improve our sustainable practices in order to limit our environmental impact.

Strategies –

  • Conduct an Energy Audit to provide a report on efficiencies that may be achieved
  • Enter our data into the School Environment Tracking System (SETS) and develop strategies for incorporating this into our Teaching and Learning
  • Utilise real time consumption feedback provided by our National Solar Schools Project to educate and inform our community regarding energy consumption
  • Develop a School Environmental Management Plan and Action Plan
  • Education for all members of the College Community in sustainable practices
  • Raising awareness and providing means for simple recycling practices
  • Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) incorporated into all new projects

Resource Implications –

  • Reduced energy costs and reduced wastage of paper
  • Audit and Consultancy fees
  • Costs associated with the upgrade of existing infrastructure as required

  • College Business Manager, College Community, Leadership Team, Curriculum Development Team

  • Review of consumption tracking data contained within SETS

To continue improving the provision of information to the College Community, staff, students and parents in a timely, thorough and accurate manner with regard to College policy and direction.

Strategies –

  • Engage all key stake-holders in the conversations around policy and direction as they arise
  • Ensure that transparency in process and practice is always maintained
  • As decisions/information becomes available ensure it is communicated to all key stake-holders in a timely manner
  • Regular updates of College Website
  • Regular updates via the College Newsletter

  • Time allocation for public relations
  • Newsletter updating and distribution
  • Website re-development

Responsibilities/Roles –

  • Leadership Executive Team/Positions of Leadership/College Board

Evaluation Measures –

  • Key stake-holders have a thorough understanding of the operational and decision making processes of the College
  • Key stake-holders feel that they have had opportunity to contribute to College policy and direction
