  2. What we will learn today • We will learn about things that can cause a burn, how to avoid being burned, and what to do if you do get burned.

  3. We have already learned that: • There are many things in our home that are hot or can get hot that can burn us

  4. We also learned that: • If we get burned • we should run cool water over the burn • tell an adult right away • and seek medical treatment • We should never put ice or butter on a burn.

  5. What are some things we can do to prevent getting burned?

  6. Don’t play with matches or lighters • tell an adult if you find them

  7. Stay away from hot liquids

  8. Stay out of the kitchen when mom or dad is cooking • don’t touch the stove or pans on the stove

  9. Never touch fireplaces, woodstoves or space heaters

  10. Have mom or dad run your bath water

  11. Don’t play with small appliances like toasters, irons or coffee pots

  12. Keep a safe distance from grills or campfires

  13. Cool foods before eating them - especially from the microwave

  14. REMEMBER - stay away from things that are hot and you won’t get burned!
