Today's geometry class focuses on area calculations, triangle properties, and preparation for tomorrow's test. Students will hand in their proof analysis, finalize write-ups, and review essential area concepts, including definitions of bases and altitudes for triangles and trapezoids. Homework involves practicing area problems, including pentagons and various triangle classifications. Students are reminded to clean up and turn in their completed assignments in the specified order. Important topics include the Pythagorean Theorem and area-by-dissection methods.

Today’s plan • Greeting • Hand in Papers • Finish Surfer Proof Write-up • Review: Area • Homework / Questions • Clean-up
Hand in Your Proof Analysis • Hand in, stapled together (in this order from top to bottom): • Final paper • Two rubrics • Draft paper
Area Review • Find the area of: • ΔPQR (assuming each square is 2’ on a side) • Rhombus ABCD. • ΔCED in rhombus ABCD. • Show two ways to find AABCE. • If you have a triangle with side lengths of 4, 7, and 8, what kind of triangle is it?
Test tomorrow • For tomorrow, know: • Definitions of base and corresponding altitude • Recognize bases & altitudes of triangles, trapezoids, and parallelograms • Area formulas • Be able to choose and use • Use in area-by-dissection problems • Pythagorean Theorem & converse • Find unknown sides of a right triangle • Classify triangles as acute, right, or obtuse • 1 proof at the end
Homework • 25+ minutes tonight: • Practice finding areas. • Pentagon • Asg #65 • Khan Academy area problems
Clean-up / Reminders • Pick up all trash / items. • Push in chairs (at front and back tables). • See you tomorrow!
