  2. General Information • It’s located in Norfolk, Virginia • Founded in 1930 as the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary • In 1932, it became an independent institution. • In 1969, it got university status.

  4. Why ODU appeals to me • It is located near my family. I want to stay at home. • My mom went there. I would love to follow in her foot steps. • It is located near the Norfolk Tides and Norfolk Admirals’ stadiums. • The athletic programs are competitive and bring in a lot of fans to their games. • I want to play intramural baseball while I study there. • My freshman year, I was nicknamed “ODU” by the seniors and juniors on the baseball team.

  5. The Business Program • Their business program intrigues me. • I want to major in business administration so that I can go into banking. • It is one of the best business programs in the state of Virginia.

  6. Interesting Facts • Cash Cab host, Ben Bailey, went to ODU. • President Jimmy Carter attended the university. • Current Major League Baseball players, Justin Verlander and Daniel Hudson, are also alumni of ODU.
