  4. Maurice Richard • Maurice Richard (The Rocket) started his NHL career in 1942, with the Montreal Canadiens. He became the first NHL player to score 50 goals in a season, doing so in 1944. • Richard 50 Goals

  6. Babe Ruth's Death • Babe Ruth was a major baseball player in the 1910s and early 1920s. His death was by far the biggest news story of the 1940s, occurring August 16th, 1948. He was 53 years old. Just the year before, the Yankees celebrated Babe Ruth Day at Yankee Stadium. • Babe Ruth Death

  10. Formation Of NASCAR • NASCAR was formed in 1948 by Bill France Senior. They began racing in 1949. Presently, NASCAR has series in US, Mexico and of course Canada.
