CEO Communication: Creating Trust Presenter: Dr. Armin Guhl, Commerzbank, Germany The financial markets and the subsequent economic crisis in many countries has caused a public debate over responsibility, regulation and business practices. The banking industry has been in the limelight ever since the collapse of Lehman Brothers on “9/15“ 2008. In light of fierce manager bashing, executive communication has become a major challenge for communication professionals. Commerzbank, Germany‘s second largest bank not only faced the general challenge of public criticism of the banking industry, but faced more tests due to the takeover of Dresdner Bank. The merger has catapulted Commerzbank from a place with middle level visibility among Germany’s blue chips to a place in the top spot. The presenter will explain, how this has changed the requirements of CEO communication and what measures are undertaken to rebuild public trust.
