There is little or no discomfort during cataract surgery. You will be awake during the procedure, but steps are taken before and during surgery so you won't feel any pain. The whole procedure of performing the cataract surgery will take around 20-30 minutes. When you arrive for the surgery they will be providing you with a mild sedative to help you relax and also might give you an anesthetic eye drops to numb your eyes to avoid any kind of discomfort.
