Environment and Energy Team involvement with students: • Meet sabbatical officers every year before semester starts • Awareness raising with Environment stand at student fairs • Freshers, Refreshers, Ethical Living • Sit on weekly Ethics & Environment committee • Sustainable Development Society • One World Society • Tree and Frog Society • Permaculture Society • Hall E&E Reps • Sabbatical Officers • Residential & Business Services Manager

  3. Respond to student needs • Fairtrade University • Student surveys • Travel survey 2006 • Sustainability Survey 2007 • Respond to student needs • Permaculture garden • Low energy light bulbs in student shop • Interhall energy competition • Energy Advice

Interhall Energy Competition • Requested by E&E committee • E&E promoted within Halls of Residence – we helped with leaflets and website. • Compared monthly electricity meter consumptions with same period on previous year. • Monitored cumulative savings. • Ran Nov-April 2007 & now in 2008 • Reported within week of month end • £1000 prize for winning hall • £500 & £250 for 2nd & 3rd hall • Saved 45.2 tonnes CO2 (£10,000)
