MODULE 2 = WP 13 Sectoral IPR awareness action • To prepare 4 handbooks (one per sector) for the use of enterprises, particularly SMEs, active in the sectors of textiles and clothing, leather, footwear and furniture covering the following countries: Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain and the United Kingdom (target countries). • The handbooks will be prepared in 13 target countries languages and should be developed in a way which will be adaptable to the needs of other sectors facing similar counterfeiting and piracy problems. • To disseminate the handbooks in a series of awareness-raising seminars on the protection of intellectual property rights in the countries covered by the handbooks.

WP 13 Participants Partners : • University of Alicante – coordinator of WP 13, Agnieszka Turynska – WP Leader • Sectoral organizations: CETTEMSA, EURATEX • NPOs: BPO, UPV, INPI (FR), DPMA, OBI, HPO, UIBM, UPRP, INPI (PT), OSIM, OEPM, UKPTONPO Lithuania with the observer status Subcontractors : • COTANCE – European Leather Association, • UEA – European Furniture Manufacturers Federation • CITEVE – Technological Centre for the Textile and Clothing Industries of Portugal • Subcontracted experts: Mrs. Vilma Misiukoniene and Dr. Roya Ghafele

Main tasks • Analysis of the needs and situations of the SMEs from sectors of textiles and clothing footwear, leather and furniture in the field of IPR • Development of the backbone of the Handbooks (one common backbone for all 4 sectoral Handbooks) and defining its final structure • Drafting of sub-sections, compilation and translation of the Handbooks • Printing and dissemination of Handbooks • Organisation of awareness-raising seminars • Quality Control, monitoring and Reports

WP 13 Advisory Committee • 27 bodiesinvolved • Mainorganisations: International TrademarksAssociations (INTA), UEAPME, Union de Fabricant, EuropeanFurnitureRetailersAssociations (FENA), European Furniture Industries Confederation (EFIC),European Federation of Building and Woodworkers (EFBWW), CTCP (Portugal), International Council of Tanners, European Trade Union Federation (ETUF:TCL), representatives from the European Commission (DG MARKT; TRADE; TAXUD).

Analysis of the SMEs needs • Around180 questionnairesanalysed(notall of themwerefullyfilled in): • 101 from Textiles and Clothing • 16 fromLeather • 31 fromFootwear • 32 fromFurniture • Majority of responses were received from SMEs, then National Sectoral Associations, Sectoral Research Centres and Large companies.
