We have developed guiding principles for family and alumni engagement to ensure that we are inclusive and transparent. • Strategies should be designed and decisions should be made in ways that honor the guiding principles: • Create clarity of expectations about the project for families and parents • Build approaches and bridges that enhance the trust of parents and families • Establish and maintain a culture of transparency • Practice authentic listening • Honor the commitment to equity and equality • Assure that all parents and families see themselves and hear their voices in APS initiatives • Create strategies that support principals and staff • Assure the student voice is included • Assure the “disenfranchised” voices are included • Create an integrated and cohesive engagement approach and the plan to get there
