  1. The creation stories By Aaron and Brett

  2. Egyptian creation myth • The Egyptian creation story begins with the dark swirl of chaos. • Atum, who had risen from water, created himself using his thoughts • He began to create the earth • He had no gender • His all seeing eye roamed the universe • He joined with his shadow to produce as son and a daughter. • Atum spit out his son who was named shu and made him god of the air. • Atum vomited up his daughter named tefnut and made her goddess of the mist and moisture.

  3. Shu and Tefnut were given the responsibility of separating the chaos, and installing the principles of law: order and stability. • The chaos was divided into light and dark and was set into place. • The order was called Maat and it formed the principles of life for all time • Maat was a feather. it was light and pure. • Shu and tefnut produced geb. The earth and nut the sky. At first these two were tangled as one, so shu pushed nut up into the heavens. She would remain there over her mate. • Maat made them stay apart, so they would fulfill their functions • Nut produced rain for Geb, and Geb made things grow on earth

  4. She gave birth to the sun everyday before dawn and it would die at sun down • Shu and tefnut produced the other six gods • Shaos still lived and in turn shu and tefnut got lost in the dark waters of nu • Atum sent his all seeing eye to find his children. • They returned and Atum cried tears of joy which turned into the first people • The people had to uphold the truth and balance of Maat they had to tend to the earth and worship the gods • The gods in turn protected and loved their creations
