  1. Brainstorm-- Discuss with your table – Things that have made you nervous or scared

  2. Stage Fright Definition: To be afraid to get in front of an audience and perform or speak in front of others.

  3. Comfort Zone: • The place where you feel the most comfortable • The things you feel most comfortable doing. • Having stage fright and being nervous means you are outside your comfort zone.

  4. Causesof Stage Fright: • Fear of “messing up” Ex. Forgetting Lines, striking out, being made fun of • Fear of “what people think” • Being UNPREPARED! • Adrenaline- the chemical from your brain that speeds up your head and produces extra energy

  5. Effects of Stage Fright: • Nausea • Sweating • Butterflies in your stomach • Dry mouth • Shaking • ‘Fainty’- feeling weak • Need to use the bathroom • Nervous habits – biting nails, playing with hair • Turning red • Giggling • Heart beats faster • Moving side to side • Goosebumps • Wanting to hide • Looking at the floor • Starting to cry or feel like crying Put a star next to the ones that happen to you.

  6. Share with the members at your table the “symptoms” of stage fright that you experience.

  7. Cures of Stage Fright: • Tell yourself it is NORMAL • Think Positive! • Be PREPARED - Practice! • FOCUS - Think about your subject, not your stage fright • Take a deep breath.
