  1. imMTrax and Electronic Data Exchange 2014 Regional Immunization Workshop

  2. imMTrax: Growth and Progress

  3. Electronic Data Exchange, Why It’s Important • Electronic Data Exchange is becoming increasingly common • Electronic Data Exchange is and will continue to impact all imMTrax users • Electronic Data Exchange is the focus of many promotional campaigns and incentive programs • Meaningful Use

  4. imMTrax, Benefits of Immunization Information Systems • Brings together multiple immunization records or “shot cards” • Electronically preserves a patient’s immunization record • Allows healthcare providers to make appropriate immunization decisions IIS= Immunization Information System

  5. Electronic Health Records,Benefits of EHRs • Electronically preserves critical medical information • Multi-access points for medical records access • Saves time (i.e. filings, retrieval) • Ability to exchange electronic data

  6. Electronic Data Exchange, Benefits • No “double data entry” • Information updated quickly and accurately • Less missing or incomplete information • Increased provider participation

  7. IIS and EHR,Creating a Connection With so many different options, versions and specialty systems in use, how can EHRs send information to imMTrax efficiently?

  8. Electronic Data Exchange, HL7 Messaging HL7 messages are standardized messages used to transfer electronic data between disparate electronic records systems. 9. Electronic Data Exchange, Flow of Data

  10. Creating an Interface,Testing Creating an Interface: Developing a relationship with a site or organization that results in extensive testing and ongoing evaluation of HL7 messaging for validity, quality and completeness. No information will be sent to imMTrax until both sides are satisfied

  11. Creating an Interface,Challenges • HL7 Messages • Documentation of Consent in an EHR • Length of Testing • Demand for Testing • Level of Participation

  12. Active Interface,Going “Live” The transition from sending HL7 messages for testing to sending messages that will be recorded into imMTrax. The Data Quality Checks Continue… The site or organization, along with Montana IIS staff, will continue to participate in quality assurance tasks to ensure messages are received and imported to imMTrax correctly.

  13. Polling Instructions Channel should be set to 41 When polling opens, use the corresponding buttons to register your answer (A, B, C). To turn on, press the decimal on the lower right hand corner

  14. Does your site participate in Electronic Data Exchange? • Yes, we’re “live” • Yes, but we’re still in Testing • No • I don’t know :01
