  7. What Do Atheists Have? • Explanations that boil down to ACCIDENTS. • Endless efforts to create doubt in the Bible! I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist!

  8. Basic Questions Atheist Answers • Origin: Where did we come from? • Identity: Who are we? • Meaning: Why are we here? • Morality: How should we live? • Destiny: Where are we going? Accident Accidents Accident Whatever Nowhere Science and Human Wisdom Alone Cannot Answer These Questions

  9. Divine Power Clearly Seen

  10. Divine Power Clearly Seen • A Beginning • Atheists must claim either that the universe has always existed or that it popped into existence without a cause. • The history of cosmology in the past century argues strongly that the universe had a beginning. Which Is It?

  11. Some Historical Background • In 1859 biology, evolution was seen as a replacement for a Designer. • “Darwin made it possible to be an intellectually fulfilled atheist.” (Richard Dawkins) • Mutation and natural selectionare seen to be the cause of all apparent “design.” Charles Darwin

  12. Darwin Is Under Fire Where His Theory Should Have Been All Along • A feature is“irreducibly complex”when: • It consists of a number of parts, none of which can be removed without destroying the function of the feature. • A common example is the mousetrap. This observation calls mutation and natural selection back into question.

  13. Nature’s Destiny • Denton discusses the fitness (relative to life) of: • Water • Light • Elements and earth • Carbon • Nitrogen • Oxygen • DNA • Nanomolecules • Metals • The cell • He gives even more examples in the appendix of his book. Life could not just happen by accident!
