  1. KS2 SATS 2014 At Milldown Primary School

  2. YOUR TURN…. • Listen carefully to the question. • I will say each question twice. Answer within the time given. • Avoid jotting anything down, it might slow you up.

  3. KS2 SATS 2014 • Papers must be administered on the day set. • PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD IS IN SCHOOL AT THE START OF THE DAY EACH OF THE TEST DAYS. • The class will be split up and work in different rooms for the tests – this is so that there is more space to work in comfort, less chance to copy or look at another child’s work. It also helps ease the administration. • If you child is absent for one or more tests, and returns to school within five days, tests can only administered to them if we can confirm the child has not had any contact with other Year six children during the absence. The school has to apply for permission to administer the test. • If your child is absent for more than five days they cannot do the tests.

  4. KS2 SATS 2014 • We do not mark the assessments They are sent off immediately after the tests. • All children will be assessed by me (‘Teacher Assessment’) and receive an end of year assessed level. • The test results should be delivered to school before the end of next half-term and you will receive a separate letter detailing your child’s attainment by the end of KS2. • In the past there have been delays with reporting levels to schools and parents…we will inform you if this is the case

  5. What about writing? Science and writing are assessed separately. Writing Milldown assesses children’s development in writing on an ongoing basis. Dorset Education department officials will be visiting the school later in the summer term to moderate our teacher assessments for writing. The school will award a level for each child based on their evidence for independent writing this academic year. The county’s officers will check that there is enough evidence to back up the school’s judgments.

  6. What about science? • The Department for Education have revealed a new system this year for assessing end-of-key stage levels in science. At some point in June: • A number of schools nationally will be selected for a visit by DfE officials. No warning will be given. • Those officers will choose a number of pupils when they arrive at the school and test the pupils in school. • The visitors will then take the tests away and inform the school of its science achievement at a later date. • We will revise key areas of science as we have English and maths after next week.

  7. During the week • Keep calm and keep your child reassured! • Ensure your child gets plenty of sleep • Don’t ask them how they have done! They will have no idea!
