  4. Statewide initiative • FREE • Easy-to-use • Web-based • www.michigancap.org Assist Michigan students and families in the process of planning, applying, and paying for college. 4

  5. Account Creation Users must register and create an account. 5

  6. Counselors • Communicate with students and parents • Manage students’ accounts • Store information for the purpose of assisting students and parents with college planning 6

  7. Counselors can send email and appointments to students and parents. They can also create a “group” to use as a filter when sending emails. Communicate 7

  8. Users must have a “connection” with other registered users to be able to communicate through the portal. Connections, Calendar, Email 8

  9. Students will receive appointments from counselors, and then add them to the portal calendar. 9

  10. Manage Counselors can track students’ progress, create journal entries, and view students’ accounts. Counselors can also view the student’s college planning progress. 10

  14. Student Building a Résumé Profile Students can organize and build their résumé of activities by completing the information within each tab. 14

  15. A student’s portfolio can contain documents that may be uploaded electronically. 15

  16. Students can enter academic scores to stay on top of their requirements. All the information is self reported by the student. . . . and explore careers based on certain criteria. This profile includes information from the O*Net database. O*NET is a trademark of the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration. 16

  17. Students can access information on the MME, ACT, SAT, and other tests. They can link to external sites to find more in depth information. 17

  18. Students can search for colleges based on academic and test scores . . . . . . specific programs, and other criteria. 18

  19. Transcripts can be requested through Docufide . . . . . . and college applications can be submitted online. 19
