  2. Today’s objective and agenda • Students will describe adulthood as a time of transition and identify the key changes in development that occur with adulthood by • 1. Do-now + discuss • 2. Taking notes • 3. Sorting activity • 4. Creating a post card • 5. Share out of work • 6. Taking a daily assessment • 7. Whip around closing

  5. Physical changes in adulthood • Physical aging and decline usually is gradual • Our cells become less able to repair themselves

  6. Physical Changes in Adulthood… • Aging includes: -the break down of muscles and fat -wrinkles -weight loss

  7. Our senses change too! • Our senses need MORE stimulation as we age Ex: difficulty seeing distance or in the dark loss of hearing slowed reaction time

  9. We are free to do what we want! …But it matters Psychological factors can lead to biological consequences. Ex: Drug abuse, inadequate diet, violence

  10. Don’t adults already know everything? • Studies show that intelligence overall improves with age -Ex: vocabulary • Reaction time decreases
