THE HEART OF WISDOM

THE HEART OF WISDOM. 2 Chron. 1:7-13. As With Most of Us…. Wisdom is available, but difficult to exercise. Tis a shame his wisdom came in his youth, foolishness in his maturity. This “wise fool” tries to educate us, so we can avoid his mistakes. Prov. 4:23; 7:1-3

  1. THE HEART OF WISDOM 2 Chron. 1:7-13

  2. As With Most of Us… • Wisdom is available, but difficult to exercise. • Tis a shame his wisdom came in his youth, foolishness in his maturity. • This “wise fool” tries to educate us, so we can avoid his mistakes. • Prov. 4:23; 7:1-3 • Four attitudes that attack wisdom…

  3. Number 1: Worry • “An anxious heart weighs a man down” (12:25). • “Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe” (29:25). • Are you a good worrier? • Phil. 4:6; Luke 12:11, 20-22, 25 • Worry destroys our wisdom/peace.

  4. Number 2: Selfishness • “The greedy bring ruin to their households” (15:27). • “A generous person will prosper; he who refreshes others will be refreshed” (11:25). • Seems to be talking to adults here. • Brown eye, blue eye, gray eye… • Mine, yours, ours…attitude determines our peace of mind about “things.”

  5. Number 3: Anger • “A quick-tempered person does foolish things” (14:17). • “A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an offense” (12:16). • Road rage – “He cut me off, so I shot him.” • You’ll have the rest of your life (in jail) to cool off. • Does anger, impatience govern your life?

  6. Number 4: Envy • “Jealousy is like cancer in the bones” (14:30). • “The righteous eat to their hearts’ content, but the stomach of the wicked goes hungry” (13:25). • Can we “have it all”, and not enjoy it? • Is that wise? Attitude can destroy our blessings.
