  1. New Insights into the Meaning of White Rose For thousands of years, one flower has intrigued the imagination of mankind more than any. It’s the rose. The queen of flora blooms in different hues as if to express the different shades of life and its transience. But here, we will explore the inner essence of the rose that needs no hue, the white rose – a popular symbol of purity. However, the white rose is a lot more than an icon of chastity and its meaning goes a lot deeper. Legend and Myths surround the White Rose It’s hardly surprising that there’s an abundance of legends and myths that surround the genus Rosa which we now know has been on earth for over 35 million years. One myth has it that the first rose was a white rose. The white rose then magically manifested into other colors. Others claim that the white rose was tainted by blood to make the red rose and blush of a kiss turned it pink. The ancient Greeks, however, maintained that all roses were white until Aphrodite; Goddess of Love pricked herself with a thorn while picking roses. The blood that dripped turned the white petals Red.
