  1. Larry Peck 5 January 2014 Isaiah 40:28-31 They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength.

  2. Isaiah 40: 28-31 28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.29 He gives strength to the weary    and increases the power of the weak.30 Even youths grow tired and weary,    and young men stumble and fall;31 but those who hope in the Lord    will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;    they will run and not grow weary,    they will walk and not be faint.

  3. Lack of power, lack of strength, faintness, and weariness are normal when working in our own strength and with our own resources. God will intentionally bring us to the end of ourselves.

  4. “And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” Deuteronomy 8:3

  5. God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong 1 Corinthians 1:26-31

  6. “But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:7-10

  7. “Are there any among the false gods of the nations that can bring rain? Or can the heavens give showers? Are you not he, O Lord our God? Are there any among the false gods of the nations that can bring rain? Or can the heavens give showers? Are you not he, O Lord our God? We set our hope on you, for you do all these things.” Jeremiah 14:22 We must give up our small gods and worship and depend on the one true God

  8. Isaiah 40 The Greatness of God

  9. “Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, My way is hidden from the Lord, and my right is disregarded by my God?” Isaiah 40:27 God wants to help us in ourweakness and failure

  10. We must wait for the Lord and accept His help, His strength, His provision for His work in His time.

  11. A summary of our calling Psalm 105:1-6

  12. 1 Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name;  make known among the nations what he has done.2 Sing to him, sing praise to him;  tell of all his wonderful acts.3 Glory in his holy name;  let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.4 Look to the LORD and his strength;  seek his face always. 5 Remember the wonders he has done,  his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,6 you his servants, the descendants of Abraham,  his chosen ones, the children of Jacob. Psalm 105:1-6
