  3. Reading Recovery • short-term early intervention program for at-risk first grade students • one-on-one daily instruction

  4. Push-In Classroom Support • collaborate/consult/co-teach with teachers to deliver literacy strategies within the classroom environment • model reading and writing initiatives

  5. Small Group Instruction • differentiated literacy instruction for students in grades 1-5, based on individual needs • supporting the New York State Standards in reading, writing, listening, and speaking

  6. Assessment • monitor all student progress, using on-going diagnostic testing • use formal and informal assessments to drive instruction

  7. Staff Development • turn-key training: share research, methods, and materials with staff • model reading and writing strategies

  8. Home-School Connection • on-going communication with parents • host parent workshops • provide resources to parents to support literacy in the home environment • district reading website • provide summer enrichment activities
