  1. Why We Used Bacillus subtilis? Bacillus subtilis is a widely used model organism for spore forming bacteria and is used in research to understand the basic properties of Gram-positive bacteria. The durable endospore is an important property of B. subtilis and it is often used as an indicator organism during gas sterilization procedures. Bacillus subtilis is a member of the Proteobacteria genus. Some strains of this bacterium are used as biological indicators to test the effectiveness of low-temperature steam sterilisation for heat sensitive products. The strains are genetically modified to have either a Rec/LG or Rec/Rec/EX gene and allowed to evolve alongside a strain without the modification. Bacillus subtilis nz is a Gram-positive, catalase-positive, rod-shaped, obligate aerobe. It is found in soil and the gastrointestinal tract of both humans and ruminants. It can survive under a variety of conditions and is highly resistant to drought, salinity, extreme pH, radiation, and solvents. Bacillus subtilis is used in poultry feed to improve animal performance and regulate the microbial flora of the digestive tract. It has been shown to improve turkey feed efficiency and improve feed intake in broilers. The effect on turkey feed intake was comparable with other broiler feeds treated with B. subtilis PB6. Bacillus subtilis is also used to prevent yellow dwarf disease of rice. Several studies have found the presence of this microorganism in rice, which is a cause of yellowing

  2. of rice. Scientists have also studied bacterial infections of rice and areca palm. The bacteria can cause phytoplasma, a plant disease caused by the bacteria. Bacillus subtilis PB6 has been proven effective in reducing E. coli and Clostridium species in broilers. The effect was significant, as broilers fed B. subtilis PB6 showed increased phagocytosis. Moreover, the increase in phagocyosis was correlated with lower E. coli counts in the ileum. Contact Us Call Us: +64 9 372 9155 Mail Us: rsf@rd2.co.nz Website: https://rd2.co.nz/
