Podcasting – What is it? • Technology made popular by the Apple iPod • Audio, video & more - personal broadcasts created and stored digitally – a series of files – episodic in nature • Users can subscribe to Podcasts, download and play episodes at the user's convenience – no need to go out and check for new content – updated automatically • On a computer or MP3 player (such as an iPOD) • Podcasts are RSS feeds • Podcasts can be accessed directly on the Internet • Users can also subscribe and be notified of new items/episodes • no need to search

Podcasts as Class Resources • Cite valuable audio resources in a timely fashion • Newscasts, political commentaries etc • Facilitate language learning • Record your own lecture • Record a mini lecture - have students listen before class and come prepared to discuss • Record a guest lecture • Make recordings available for field use or other out of class locations • Create your own video supplement You can easily add a podcast to your EduCatcourse for reference.
