Skills • CDL • Heavy Equipment Training programs also consist of web-based training (WBT), computer-based training (CBT) and simulator training (ST ) • A CDL is not necessary to operate heavy equipment, however, you may need to take the equipment from one site to another on a truck and a CDL license is required to drive on public roads. You will be very attractive to employers with the CDL than without it. And many contractors require a CDL for employment.
Education • Heavy Equipment Operators typically need to have Commercial Drivers Licenses, and most operators are also required to have earned high-school diplomas.
