  1. What is the Canadian Super Visa? And How to Apply for One Are you a parent or grandparent wishing to visit your children or grandchildren living in Canada? If yes, it is compulsory to apply for a super visa. Let us take a look at what a super visa is all about, and how one can go about applying for it. What is Super Visa? Since 2011, the Canadian government has been allowing the parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents of the country to visit their loved ones multiple times without reapplying their visa every visit for a maximum stay of up to two years at a time. It is valid for up to 10 years. The process is straightforward; the individuals applying for a super visa must submit proof the grandchild/child has sufficient finances to take

  2. care of them, including maintaining a minimum level of income in the bank as per the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Once approved and they purchase the super visa insurance, they can enter the country as many times as they want for 10 years with proper Super Visa Insurance. Unlike a regular visit visa, where the applicant can stay for a maximum time frame of six months, the super visa allows its applicants to stay in Canada for a maximum period of 2 years upon their arrival. Super visa insurance guarantees that your grandparents or parents get the required medical attention in case of a medical emergency. This insurance policy gets them access to the country’s best healthcare facilities that citizens of the country have. Criteria for super visa As mentioned above, the super visa insurance applies only to parents and grandparents of permanent residents and Canadian citizens. Please note – The IRCC reserves the right to turn down entry to any person into the country based on the grounds of crime or medical-related reasons. How to apply for Super Visa? Below-mentioned is a few things to keep in mind when applying for super visa insurance: •The host must present substantial proof to the IRCC that they will take care of their parents/grandparents financially during their stay. •A signed letter, either by the grandchild or child. •They must submit proof that they have purchased medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company. •The minimum coverage of the policy should be at least $100,000 •The host must provide all the necessary documentation of their citizenship or permanent resident status, including a list of members in their household.

  3. •From the time the applicants arrive in the country, the medical insurance should have a minimum validity of one year. Please note – No quotations will be accepted by the IRCC. So, the individual must provide proof that they purchased the medical insurance to obtain the super visa. •The IRCC has the authority to look into the applicant’s home country, their reason for travelling to Canada; their family history and financial status, and the current political stability of the country they are residing in. •For eligibility for a full refund or a pro-rated refund, you must keep your insurance agency aware of the status of your visa, arrival and departure dates. •Individuals with pre-existing medical conditions may be eligible for medical insurance coverage if their medical condition is controlled or stable (terms and conditions apply). •If the applicant wishes to extend their stay after two years, they will need to purchase a new insurance policy eight days before their current insurance plan expires. If you are looking to ensure your grandparent’s or parents stay is safe and secure during their visit to the country, then applying for super visa insurance is the ideal solution.
