(Hebrews 5:1, 4) The “boss” over all other priests. • Represented God to the people; taught them the Word of God. • Represented the people to God in making Atonement for their sins and his own. (Leviticus 1-4, 16) • He wore sacred clothes. (Leviticus 8) • He earnestly cared for those under his care.

  10. A Great High Priest, Heb 4:14 – 5:10 II. Jesus: The Great High Priest • Lived His life in the will of God; designated by God. • Approached God in reverent submission. Intercedes for us. • Sympathizes with our weaknesses (4:15). • Patiently persevered in obedience; endured the process to become perfect forever; God’s plan fulfilled. • God’s plan is extended to all believers. (1 Peter 2:9)

A Great High Priest, Heb 4:14 – 5:10 What shall we do…? • “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 • “Pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” Hebrews 2:1 • Hold firmly to your faith…“Donot cast away your confidence, which has great reward.” Hebrews 10:35 • “…know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.” Ephesians 1:18-19
