NPO update Draft funding agreements developed A mandatory KPI and some mandatory areas for KPIs They should relate to the organisation’s business plan and to other funders, they do not need to be written exclusively for us Bridge organisation consultations commencing National look across Feedback and finalise

Strategic funds Come largely from lottery income and will work alongside NPO funding to deliver on Arts Council’s Plan Will be used to target key areas and take opportunities, strands include capital, touring and encouraging private giving Major announcement made on 1 November Opportunities for NPOs and non-NPOs Grants for the arts sits separate to strategic funds and NPO funding. It is project funding targeted at non-NPOs

Capital £180m programme focused on improving existing facilities, open 1 November, 6 December deadline In contrast to previous programmes which addressed the under development in arts infrastructure , £1.5bn invested since 1994 Likely to be very oversubscribed Details of small scale capital fund next year Strongly advised to consult with regional office before applying

Catalyst Arts Catalyst Arts is part of Catalyst, a DCMS £100m scheme to boost private giving to arts and culture, Arts Council and Heritage Lottery Fund are jointly sponsoring £25m endowments scheme to build an endowment, aimed at large organisations, open 1 Nov £30m capacity building and match funding scheme, £120K to £240K over three years to build capacity and match funding, open to NPO, RFO or G4A recipient in the last 3 years, open 1 Nov £7m fundraising capacity building, launch April 2012 £3m skilling the sector, programme to share knowledge across the sector

Strategic touring Targeted programme to deliver on goal 2, more people experience and are inspired by the arts Will help to take high quality work to people and places with least engagement and connect people across a range of venues Collaboration between organisations encouraged Budget £15m pa, awards over £10k Open access NPOs must show additional activity beyond the funding agreement Applications open 5 December, six deadlines Feb-Dec 2012

Grant commissions Will enable the arts sector to deliver a particular piece of work for us to a detailed brief Audience focus, £7.5m, designed to help funded organisations understand, retain and grow their audiences. The fund will support a small number of large-scale national, sector-wide or major cross-regional collaborative activities. Opens 8 November, closes 12 Jan 2012 We are looking for a national provider to deliver Artsmark, the grant would run for the period from April 2012 to March 2015, opens 8 Nov, closes 9 Jan 12 Creative people and places programme aimed areas with low arts engagement launches in early 2012

Museums and libraries update Earlier this year we announced how we will deliver the Renaissance in the Regions funding programme Budget of £46 million a year for our new responsibilities with £43.6 million set aside for Renaissance in the Regions Applications opened 13 September and close on 2 November 2011. Decisions in January 2012. Grants of between £500,000 and £2 million will be awarded for a period of three years, April 2012 - March 2015 Only accredited museums with designated collections will be eligible to apply Further information on Future Libraries programme to be announced

General strategic grant programme In spring 2012 we will open a General strategic grant programme, giving organisations the chance to apply to undertake work that helps realise our priorities Our aim is for the Arts Council to work alongside our National Portfolio, and other artistic and cultural organisations, to deliver our shared aims and ambitions for the arts NPOs would need to show how the activity supported by strategic funding is in addition to its core programme

Summary Strategic funds will allow Arts Council to invest in a flexible and targeted way to realise our priorities There will be three ways that it operates – targeted grants, grant commissions and a general strategic grant programme Opportunity to achieve local integration to maximise impact Potential to achieve significant shift eg enabling touring of subsidised product into new places/venues
