I have strong mathematical content, pedagogical and curriculum knowledge and I am confidently able to utilise this when planning, implementing and reflecting on my mathematics programmes.
My mathematics programmes are dynamic, child-centred, hands-on and are always related to meaningful real life contexts. I believe this is vitally important as mathematics provides students with effective means for investigating, interpreting, explaining, and making sense of the world in which they live.
I am a competent user of ICT and have a good understanding of the range of e-learning tools that can be successfully integrated into classroom programmes. I believe that ICT should play a vital role in our students’ twenty-first-century learning, to help enable them to be confident, connected, actively involved, life-long learners.
I have in-depth knowledge and training in the current New Zealand reading & writing progressions and reading & writing national standards.
My literacy programmes relate to children’s interests, draw on and confirm their social and cultural identities, use authentic language contexts, and motivate and challenge them as learners. Literacy is meaningfully integrated across the curriculum and is focused on helping students to confidently create and use a range of texts within twenty-first-century contexts.
Te Reo me ngā Tikanga Māori
I am able to integrate and implement Te Reo me ngāTikanga Māori into my classroom. I have up-to-date knowledge and understanding of current Māori research and education initiatives.
I have a good understanding of the inquiry process and have had experience in planning, implementing and reflecting on successful child-centred learning inquiry units.
I have current content and curriculum knowledge of Health and Physical Education within the 2007 New Zealand curriculum and am able to use effective pedagogical teaching approaches and strategies to successfully plan, structure and deliver quality physical education programmes. I have experience in teaching and coaching children’s sport.
I have an varied background in performing arts. I have taught performing arts and helped coordinating school productions. Music is one of my passions and I have taught flute, recorder and singing in the past.
Art and design
I have an extensive background and competence in all areas of art and design. I have taught art to a wide range of year levels and have experience in fine art, graphic design, photography, print making. I am looking forward to making a valuable contribution to art and design at your school.
