  3. Mysterious Country Criticism • SNU English Literature Professor and Translator • Criticism from foreigners is the style of writing. (useless adjectives and flawed presumptions) • Foreigners do not like to feel that Korea is exceptional in the sense that it can’t even be understood.

  4. Key Vocabulary • Inscrutable, splendid, solid – too heavy on adjectives throughout – unstylish • Enigma, puzzling, baffling, bizarre, bewildering, plethora - It looked like the heavy use of thesaurus – slightly unnatural
