  2. .KZ owner background • Manager on registration and support of Internet domain names at ccTLD .KZ is non-commercial organization “Kazakh Center of Network Information (KazNIC)” (http://www.nic.kz/) • KazNICwas registered at KZ Ministry of Justice in September 1999

  3. List of reserved domain names • ORG.KZ – for third level domains for non-commercialorganizations from Kazakhstan • EDU.KZ – for third level domains for educational organizations from Kazakhstan • NET.KZ – for third level domains for organizations dealing with data transfer systems and correspondingly licensed from Kazakhstan • GOV.KZ – for third level domains for governmental and local authorities organizations from Kazakhstan • MIL.KZ – for third level domains for organizations under Ministry of Defense from Kazakhstan • COM.KZ - for third level domains for commercial organizations and to protect registered trade marks

  4. Internet in Kazakhstan • 1992 – first e-mails (Parasat Co., Parasang Plus Co.) • 1993 – permanent connection to Internet through IP in Saint Petersburg, RU • September 1994 – registration of .KZ domain name

  5. Fee structure at .KZ • Starting from June 1, 2004 the registration cost is $35/year (vs. $100 for first two-year registration period and $50 for 1-year prolongation before) • Minimum support period is 1 year

  6. State regulations • Republican Center of telecommunication traffic billing (established in Nov-99) • Ministry of transport and communications

  7. Naming policy • The minimum length of domain name at .kz is 4, maximum 63 (including .kz) • No other limitations
