  4. Celebrating Science 2008 Share fun science concepts with elementary students in your community!! You will pair with another student and plan a presentation/activity to present at one of 6 elementary schools. The dates of the school visits are listed below. You will have to get a permission slip signed by your parents and your teachers. Your topic should address one of the California Science Standards. This project is worth 100 points. The points you will receive will depend on your participation, preparation, and behavior at the elementary school. We will leave RHS around 8:00 am and return around 12:30 pm. Objective Your presentation must include: • Poster with eye-catching pictures that you can see from across the room. Your concept must be explained on the poster using appropriate vocabulary (Worth 25 points) 2. Handout for teachers- Your ONE PAGE handout will contain the following: 1) Catchy title 2) Relevant California Science Standard and grade level near top of page. 3) Directions on how to perform the activity/demonstration. 4) Explanation of science concept for the teacher. • Make it look good, import/insert graphics. (all worth 25 points) 3. Student activity, model, or demonstration- Every elementary school student (plan on 300) should be actively engaged in doing and learning science at your station. You should prepare a short activity sheet (half-page) for the students to complete and take with them. (Worth 25 points) 4. Appropriate Behavior and Dress at the School – Any inappropriate behavior will result in a loss of points. Your behavior reflects on us and RHS. Make us proud. Also, you need to dress in nice clothes or like a Scientist or somehow like your topic or concept. (Worth 25 points)
