  3. Attitudes of personnel in the schools about gifted individuals will affect the effectiveness of the gifted program.

  4. Attitudes of teachers who work with gifted students are more favorable than those who do not.

  5. Many teachers confuse motivation and self-confidence with high ability.

  6. Comments made by student teachers to supervisor during interviews. "He's too chatty"
"She gets her work done, but then distracts her neighbors"
"He doesn't focus on his work until the last five minutes before recess; then he flies through it so he can go outside."
"Those two are always building stuff with their pencils, erasers, and paper clips so I just had to take them away."

  7. Course work/workshops should be designed to help teachers convert negative impressions of potentially gifted and talented students into a more appropriate understanding of gifted characteristics.
