The startup industry is undergoing one of its strongest growth phases in the last five years. 506 startup funding deals were recorded in Q1 2022 in the Indian startup ecosystem, thus, marking the highest number of funding deals in the last few years on a YoY basis. Over $11.8 Bn was raised by Indian startups in this quarter, 186% higher than the funds raised in Q1 2021. In Q1 2022, enterprise tech startups grabbed investors’ greater a�en�on, therefore, ge�ng 5X higher venture capital funding as compared to Q1 2021. Startup Deals March-April 2022 Few of the notable deals are as follows - Oxyzo Financial Services, the lending arm of So�Bank-backed OfBusiness, has raised $200 million in its first external funding. With a valua�on of $1 billion a�er the funding, Oxyzo is the latest addi�on to India’s growing list of unicorns. Enterprise so�ware firm Locofy.ai has secured $3 million in a funding round from Accel, January Capital, Golden Gate Ventures and Boldcap. The company will use the funds to scale its engineering and data science teams. Decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol firm Struct Finance on March 22, 2022 announced it has raised $3.9 million from Antler, Arcanum Capital, Asymmetries Technologies and Avalaunch, among others. It plans to use the funds to build tools that would allow ins�tu�ons to easily customise their interest rate products. Indian so�ware-as-a-service (SaaS) startup Zocket has raised $3 million in a funding round led by Kalaari Capital. The funding round also saw par�cipa�on from an early-stage investor, Ke�leborough Venture Capital, and angel investor Jasminder Singh Gula�, founder of NowFloats. Zocket plans to use the funds to launch a full-fledged adtech solu�on for small and medium businesses. Chennai-based travel startup Pickyourtrail has raised an undisclosed amount from a group of investors including Cred founder Kunal Shah, Freshworks CEO Girish Mathrubootham, and GoFrugal founder and CEO Kumar Vembu. Each month seems to bring a new set of Unicorn in the Indian Startup Ecosystem. Here are the details of one of the upcoming IPOs and unlisted equi�es - IPO LIC The IPO of the largest government-owned life insurer in India has created a buzz among investors. The Central Government is aiming to collect Rs. 2.1 lakh crores through the divestment of LIC. The government plans to cut the LIC public offer valua�on by 30 percent to make the issue more a�rac�ve and looks at a valua�on of around Rs 11 lakh crore from the IPO, slashed from Rs 16 lakh crore planned earlier. This IPO was to open for subscrip�on on 11 March 2022 but has been delayed owing to the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Snapdeal Ltd Snapdeal Ltd has filed for an IPO worth around Rs.1,250 crore. The issue comprises of a fresh issue worth Rs.1,250 crore and an offer for sale of up to 30,769,600 equity shares. So� bank plans to offload up to 30.77 million equity shares in the offer for sale. Snapdeal is considering a pre-IPO placement worth Rs.250 crore, which will be deducted from the fresh issue. Rs.900 crores of the net proceeds is to be used to fund organic growth ini�a�ves. The rest of the proceeds are to be used for general corporate purposes. Campus Ac�vewear Ltd The issue size of the IPO is Rs.1,900 crore which includes a fresh issue of Rs.1,500 crore and OFS of Rs.400 crore. The book running lead managers to the issue are IIFL Securi�es, Credit Suisse Securi�es, BNP Paribas, ICICI Securi�es, and Jefferies India Pvt Ltd. The promoters are Bipin Preet Singh, Upasana Rupkrishan Taku, Koshur Family Trust, and Narinder Singh Family Trust. The funding purpose is of organic and inorganic growth and general corporate purposes. Arohan Financial Services Ltd Arohan Financial Services, Kolkata based microfinance lender, is in its final stage of prepara�ons for IPO. The fresh issue size will be worth Rs. 850 crores (including Pre-IPO placement value) and offer for sale of 2.7 crore equity shares. The lender will be looking to raise up to Rs 150 crore from pre-IPO placement. Exis�ng investors such as Tano India, Michael & Susan Dell Founda�on, Maj Invest, TR Capital, and Aavishkaar Goodwell India Microfinance Development Company II (AG II) will be looking to par�ally exit through the sale. Qualified ins�tu�onal buyers (QIBs) can subscribe to up to 50% of the IPO, whereas retail individual investors will have up to 35% of the reserved por�on. 15% of the issue size will be set aside for non-ins�tu�onal investors. Furthermore, eligible employees of this company can subscribe up to 5% of the ini�al offer.
