Process of changing Regulations • LTEC prioritisation of issues from Executive, committees, APMEs, individuals etc. (Nov 2010) • Consultation on proposals for change: PVC Deans, ADAs, HoS, AHTs et al (Nov 2010 – Jan 2011) • LTEC action plan (Feb 2011) • Senate approval of outline changes (Mar 2011) • ARTP 2011/12 with tracked changes to LTEC (Apr 2011) • Final version to LTEC and Senate (May/June 2011) GSU/SID

Key changes approved for 2011/12 • Attendance and participation – registration of non-participating students may be cancelled after first 6 weeks • Academic Portfolio Review principles – minimum/standard module sizes, assessment components limit • Level 7 compensation – 30 credits compensated (new minimum module size) with min. 45% mark in failed module • No placement retakes – transfer to non-placement route for failed reassessment • Regulation 8.8.2 – reassessments allowed after NS in final components – end of exemption procedure GSU/SID

  7. Other Changes • Student entitlement to extensions on Masters Degree programmes – extension of deadline, not supervision (7.4) • Entry via APL – “free of charge” reference (6.3.3) deleted • Update of references to Faculty Boards (11.2.2, 11.3.3) and major/minor amendments (4.4.7) GSU/SID

Exceptions and exemptions Regulations apply to all students on all taught programmes/modules, except… • General Exceptions (Senate) • Specific Exceptions (Chair of LTEC or Deputy Chair of Senate) • Discontinuation of exemption of students from 8.8.2 (Exceptions Panel) – except students seeing out 2010/11 ARTP (e.g. Jan starts) GSU/SID

Issues driving future changes • University policy changes - e.g. daily penalties for late submission, two-tiered Boards of Examiners (process implementation through Transformation Programme) • University structural changes – possible impact on locus of responsibility • Possible changes to APL – review during 2011 • Government policy – White Paper July 2011 • Academic Handbook project – consolidating regulatory matters & reviewing content GSU/SID
