  2. In past 24 hours… Storm (heavy rain) Rain (steady) Showers (intermittent) Overcast Clear/Sunny Snowy Now… Storm (heavy rain) Rain (steady) Showers (intermittent) Overcast Clear/Sunny Weather Temperature ReadingsTaken in the shade Water Temperature: 5 CAir Temperature: 11 C

  3. Water Appearance Water Odor Check one: • Brown • Blue-green • Green • Yellow • Milky • Clear • Check one: • None • Fishy • Musty • Rotten eggs • Septic

  4. Residential Commercial Agriculture Natural/Preserve Lawns Wooded Crop land Grazing land Feed lot Paved roads or bridges Unpaved roads Construction Recreational use Industrial Land fill Waste treatment plant Evidence of past alteration Local Land Useland use in local watershed within ¼ mile of site

  5. Check one: Rocky bottom Muddy bottom (Record the number of jabs taken in each habitat type) Vegetated bank margins 36 Snags and logs 5 Aquatic vegetation beds 40 Silt/Sand/Gravel substrate 24 Type of Sampling

  6. Stream DepthMeasure the depth across the stream, from right bank to left bank in one-foot intervals for a minimum of 10 measurements

  7. Stream Width

  8. Measuring Stream Velocity Trial # • 0 seconds 20 feet Not able to do because lack of stream flow. Average Time of Travel= 0.00 Total Time divided by # of measurements Velocity= 0.00 Distance divided by Average Time

  9. River Bottom Composition and Embeddedness Average Embeddedness Average Embeddedness for the site: TOTAL (add all 10 together) 556/10= 55.6%

  10. # of Squares Counted: 6 Macro-Invertebrates Identified

  11. What the findings mean to the watershed The majority of the macro-invertebrates we found and identified have a medium tolerance level. We found 4 macro-invertebrates in the range of 0 to 3 tolerance level. We found 124 macro-invertebrates in the range of 4 to 7. We found 14 macro-invertebrates in the 8 – 10 range. With the high level of rain received this spring, our stream’s velocity increased compared to the spring data. The depth and width also increased compared to fall.
