  11. PROJECTS’ STRUCTURES COMMUNITY OF KNOWLEDGE AND INNOVATION INNOVATIONS NEEDS IDEAS DEVELOPEMENT (1) CONSORTIA PROJECT PROJECT (2) ... PROJECT (n) FINANCING SOURCES: governmental and EU

  12. Fields of activities Lignite mining Lignite drying Gasification of coal for hydrogen production CO2 clatrates fotovoltaics Waste pirolisys Zero-emission technologies Waste management , CO2 seqwestration and storage MicroCHP Neural networks models in combustion process Co-combustion of biomass in existing CHP’s Audits, intelligent management of heat energy demand and supply, Alternative energy sources

  13. PROJECTS PROPOSITIONS Proposition 1 • International cluster for • Utilizing of waste fuels in energy production • Technology analysis of reduction and CO2capture for existing power units • Technologies for boiler start-up

  14. PROJECTS PROPOSITIONS Proposition 1 Clean coal technology Coal drying Emissions capture: CO2, NOx, Hg, SO2

  15. PROJECTS PROPOSITIONS Proposition 3 Alternative fuels for energy production from municipal waste – organic fraction = Biogas –non-organic fraction =RDF/SRF (ang. Residue Derived Fuel/Solid Recovered Fuel)

  16. PROJECTS PROPOSITIONS Proposition 3 • The Landfill Directive requires diversion of biodegradable waste from landfill. Some member States have already implemented a „ban” for combustible waste or „organic waste „ in landfill • Other recovery options for mixed combustible waste are limited . Direct incineration plants are well suited for large cities but their permitting procedure is difficult and time consuming RDF RDF is a solid fuel prepared from non-hazardous waste, meeting the classification and Specificationrequirements of CEN- TS15359 The use of RDF saves other resources, it contributes to the EU strategy “Security of Energy Supply” and helps achieve the Kyoto targets in terms of avoided CO2 emissions.
