Car Window Tinting and the Benefits

here are many advantages that come with car windows tinting; that is why a lot of car

owners pimp up their cars these days. But car tinting is not a luxury; it is beneficial and

highly recommended. One of the greatest advantages is limitation to car burgling. After

all, a tinted car doesn’t allow prying eyes see through the car.

Ultraviolet rays

The issue of ultraviolet rays can never be over flogged. When sun rays penetrate the car, they

emit dangerous ultraviolet rays. But with car tinting, these rays are reflected appreciably.

Studies have shown that car tints can prevent about 28% of harmful rays while providing about

99% protection. Thus, the passengers and the interior of the car are shielded from harmful

consequences of exposure. Because many drivers spend an average of 90 minutes in their car

every day, repeated exposure can be detrimental. This is why tinted window panes are the best

options for car owners.

Mild Temperature of the Car’s Interiors

Heat production is one of the characteristics of ultraviolet rays. Imagine how hot a closed car can

be when parked in an exposed park for long? The heat generated can cause lasting damage to the

car’s upholstery. This can result in flaking, peeling, and fading of components of the car such as

dashboards, leather interiors and so on. Car upholstery is composed of many chemicals such as:

Fire retardants – polybrominated diphenyl

Plastic softeners such as ethers – phthalates

When the sun heats up the vehicle, these chemicals are released into the car compartments. The

result will be pollution of the interiors. But a tinted car reflects about 80% of the heat which can

cause pollution. Also, the car efficiency is increased because sensitive parts of the car such as the

air vents are kept cool.

reduction of glare

Reduction of glare

Many people have several eye defects, mostly due to glare from direct sunlight. Other sources of

glare include areflection of light from snowflakes or shiny objects and oncoming headlights and

bright lights. But if this glare can be reduced by tinting the window panes, it must be worth it.

The mode of reaction of the tint is to filter the sun rays before it enters the eyes. Thus, you may

concentrate better on a sunny day whilst you drive.

Protection against Accidents

A strong adhesive is used to secure the film of tint on the car window. As strong as this adhesive

is, it prevents the shattering of glass during high impact accidents. This means that car tints are

protective layers on the car as well.

Different types of tints

The functionality of tint increases with density of color. Therefore, tints can be found in ranges

of color from light tints to solid tint such as charcoal. The type of tint that rejects the most rays is

hybrid tint. It is inexpensive and highly resistant to tearing, discoloration, and bubbling.

However, you must confirm with the local authorities if tinting of cars is not prohibited. This is

because the identification of passengers in the car is paramount in some jurisdictions. While

some authorities allow a degree of transparency, others don’t. Some may allow between 25% and

70% visible light transmission (VLT).

The term ‘VLT’ refers to the visibility of the car’s interiors from an external source. The darker

the tint, the less light is transmitted, and the lower the VLT. However, the commonest VLT

degree of car tinting is 35 %.
