  1. Electric Bikes What is an e-bike? Most people when they hear mention of an e-bike, they get visions of a scooter or electric motorcycle in their head. However, this is not a correct vision—an e-bike looks similar to a standard bicycle, only with a few extra electrical parts such as a motor, battery and a charger. All these parts have been flawlessly incorporated into the design of the e-bike. This is what constitutes the essentials of the modern e-bicycle currently advertised today. Just as a traditional bicycle, an e-bicycle has the same type of pedal and handling action. The intention of an e-bike is not to completely replace the need for human-power, but to supplement it in order to allow the rider to go further distances if desired. Riding an e-bike will make it much simpler to go up a hill or ride into a head wind, without tiring you out. The three principle parts of the e-bike are the motor, drivetrain and battery. An e-bike is similar to a standard bicycle; however, the e-bike is reliant upon these three main parts. The e-bike’s single most significant characteristic is the electric motor. There are various types of motors that can be on an e-bike; such as the front-hub, rear-hub and mid-drive motors. Located on the front tire, the front-hub motor supplies a momentum by spinning the front tire, this momentum creates the feeling that the e-bike is being “pulled” ahead. Next is the rear-hub—the rear-hub motors operate by supplying momentum to spin the rear tire; this gives the rider the more ordinary feeling of being “pushed” forward. The rear-hub is much more normal than the front hub and riders seem to prefer the rear-hub motor e-bikes. The next type of motor is the mid-drive; this one sends the e-bike’s drivetrain the power instead of sending it to either of the hubs. The battery on an e-bike has a range lasting anywhere from twenty to sixty miles per each charge. This is dependent on how the rider uses the battery; either pedaling only, pedal assistant and battery only. The three types of power are described below: ●With Pedal only the e-bike is used as a regular bicycle and powered completely by the rider; ●Pedal assisted means the motor only activates when the rider is using the pedals; this methods gives the rider the opportunity to still get a workout while riding the bike, but with the added bonus of getting a little assistance when there is a hill or head wind, or any other obstacle that could make the rider tire quickly; ●Electric only- this method is the largest battery drainer; the rider simply turns the throttle on and the bike acts like a moped, with no extra assistance by the rider needed.

  2. The drivetrain of an e-bike gives the necessary torque and power that is required to turn the wheels of the bike manually. With a mid-drive motor all power is sent straight to the drivetrain making it easier to crank the chain. Drivetrains typically allow the rider to shift the gears which can make it easier or harder to pedal, depending on the situation. The last thing is about charging your e-bikes battery. A good battery will typically take from two to four hours to completely charge and has the life span of about seven hundred to one thousand charges. A cheaper battery takes about six to eight hours to charge with only three to seven hundred charges in it life span. Electronic bicycles are a smart option and more economical that buying a second car. People who work 9-5 jobs as well as students use e-bikes as their main mode of transportation. The e- bike is user and economically friendly and worth every penny you spend on it. Articles Source : http://www.motorhastanesi.com/electric-bikes/
