  2. FoN Co-Chairs forNANC Confirmation • The FoN has designated the following individuals as FoN Co-Chairs and asks for NANC’s confirmation. Hoke Knox, Sprint Karen Mulberry, MCI FoN WG

Proposed FoN Mission and Scope • Mission To explore changes to the environment, including new and future technologies, the impact of market place and/or regulatory changes and innovations on telephone numbering. • Scope: The Working Group will investigate new telephone numbering assignment approaches and future telephone number assignment requirements. The Working Group will identify trends and assess their impact upon numbering resources. The Working Group, if necessary, will analyze potential changes to numbering administration and use common criteria to determine the feasibility and benefit of each and report its findings to the NANC. The Working Group will also analyze various topics that may be given to it from time to time by the NANC and/or FCC. FoN WG

  5. Status Navy NPA Request • FoN WG analysis currently underway: • INC work on the issue. • Feasibility of using 710 & possible GETS impact? INC issue? • Issues • National Security: single NPA vs. random geographic number assignment • Pro’s • Number conservation. • Con’s • National 10 digit dialing required? • Conditions • Return of all previously assigned geographic telephone numbers. • Assignment should be to agency larger than the Navy, such as the DOD, for better number utilization. • Set transition period? • Precedence setting? FoN WG
