  1. Robert Bertel - Tips For Choosing The Right Wine Robert Bertel enjoys many of the finer things in life. Although he makes it a point to eat healthy and stay in shape, he also takes the time to enjoy a good cigar and some fine wines. He has been enjoying fine wines for many years and knows how to pair them well with food and choose the right wine for the right occasion. If you need help choosing the right wine, consider these tips. Pairing Wine with Foods Certain wines pair better with certain foods than others. Some things to remember when choosing the right wine to pair with food is to pair light foods with light wines and heavy foods with heavy wines. White wine is often best with fish, chicken, some pork and cream- based sauces. Beef and tomato-based sauces work better with red wines. Some light red wines can be paired with lighter foods as well. Choosing a Region The region a wine comes from can determine how it tastes. If you enjoy an old world wine, make sure you choose one from France, Italy or Germany as these regions produce some of the best wine. If you prefer modern wines, choose a wine from Oregon or California’s Napa Valley. Find the Right Year Many people think that the older a wine is, the better, but this is not only true. While many wines do get better with age, it is not true for all of them, especially the commercial wines available in most stores. Time can actually make these wines taste bad. The year of the wine matters because certain weather conditions can affect the way grapes grow each year and change the way the wine taste. So instead of just looking for an old or vintage wine, consider a wine that was made from grapes grown during a specific year. Consider Varietal Wines If you have a hard time knowing what is in your wine or what kind of wine is best, try a varietal wine. These wines are made from one type of grape and are easier to understand. Simply choose the varietal wine that is made from your preferred type of grape. Robert Bertel enjoys a variety of different types of wines. Like most wine enthusiasts, he knows that some wines are better in certain situation than others. If you learn how to make smart decisions about the types of wine you choose for certain events or occasions, you may find that you enjoy both the wine and the even more.
