  4. Robin Gardner-Jones is a 51 year old New York native, currently residing in the Bronx with her husband of 21 years, Jerome. She has 28 years’ experience as an administrative assistant where she has planned conferences retirement parties, and office celebrations; she has also planned several weddings, birthday celebrations and formal gatherings. Recently, she decided to plan for early retirement and turn her creative passions, work experience and organizational skills into her own business. Robin is a wedding and event professional who recently earned her certification in wedding and event planning from Lovegevity’s Wedding Planning Institute and is also a member of the Association of Bridal Consultants. She is passionate about weddings and all things celebratory. In her spare time, Robin likes to attend Times Square Church in Manhattan, read, watch television wedding programs and the Animal Planet channel.   7. My target audience will be engaged couples aged 20 to 40. To attract this clientele to my business I will advertise with flyers, brochures, and business cards in local flower shops and bakeries, wedding venues, beauty salons, barber shops, bookstores, stationary stores and churches. I live in a 9 building, 1,160 apartment housing cooperative. The Co-op features a laundry room in each building, announcement board in each lobby and has it’s own newsletter, television channel and senior center. I would utilize all of these mediums to advertise my business. I will also advertise in the local neighborhood newspapers (Riverdale Press, The Bronx Times, The Norwood News, Co-op City Times, etc.), local college newspapers (Fordham University, Lehman College, New York University, Columbia University, Manhattan College, etc.), and online news sites such as DNAifno New York City Newsletter. I would also utilize social networking sites such as

  8. The Grand Opening Celebration will be held at The Alhambra Grand Ballroom of New York. The historic Ballroom features vaulted ceilings, cathedral windows, balcony seating, a hardwood dance floor, DJ booth and a stage to hold a live band. The Grand Opening Celebration will showcase the use of the Ballroom as a wedding and event venue as well as provide a space for me to showcase my event design talents. In addition, the venue will provide the perfect backdrop for invited vendors to showcase their products and services. The Grand Ballroom of the Alhambra was opened in 1929 as an entertainment venue that hosted such icons as Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington and Count Basie. In keeping with that history, the Grand Opening Celebration will be a jazz infused, lounge style cocktail party. I will use the venue’s large foyer to display photographs of previous events I’ve done and examples of my tablescape designs. Arrival & Atmosphere

  9. My brand messaging will be displayed through the use of my tagline, which will be displayed as a 2.5’ x 4’ banner displayed on a banner stand, as guests enter the venue. It will also be displayed on my website, all presentation materials, business cards, flyers, brochures and my gift bags. Grand Ballroom Décor Utilizing the existing décor of the venue, with its balcony, elegant chandeliers, hardwood dance floor and huge mirrored wall, I would flank the hardwood dance floor with residential style seating areas – tufted leather sofas and chairs - interspersed with a mixture of high (standing) and low (seated) cocktail tables surrounded by gold Chiavarichairs. The periphery of the Ballroom will be used for vendor displays and set-ups.

  11. In keeping with the rich colors already used in the ballroom, I will dress the tables in linens of gold and burgundy with brown, ivory and taupe accents. I will use ivory and taupe draping on the stage and DJ booth area to accentuate those areas.

  12. As part of my business, I plan to offer rental of centerpiece and tabletop accessories for tablescapes. I will use those items in my tablescape displays at the event and will provide a brochure with rental prices in my presentation packet for clients.

  13. The cocktail party will feature butler passed Hors d’Oeuvres, as well as food stations, a salad bar, an antipasto, cheese, and fruit display and a hosted beverage bar for wine and cocktails. Appetite
