tachometer calibrator

Tachometers are the instruments used to measure rotational speed of shaft or disk in a machine, it measures speed in revolutions per minute (rpm). Tachometers display the reading on calibrated analogue scale, but digital displays are also available, such as in cars. A tachometer calibrator is a device used for calibration of contact type and non-contact type tachometers. Calibration of any measuring instrument is very important, because it checks the accuracy and reliability of the instrument.

  1. Instruments Used For Measuring Speed and Pressure Tachometers are the instruments used to measure rotational speed of shaft or disk in a machine, it measures speed in revolutions per minute (rpm). There is possibility that over the years, results and accuracy of the measuring instruments tend to drift. Therefore, it is needed that measuring instruments should be calibrated from time to time to ensure the results are accurate. Main purpose of calibration is to minimize the measurement uncertainty. Calibration controls the errors within certain acceptable limit. In manufacturing industries, equipment which are used should be calibrated at many points, because improper calibration may cause injuries or even death. Digital pressure gauge is a device to measure the pressure within a system. These gauges convert the pressure into an electronic signal, and then this Tel: (65) 6779 9272 Website:tiscalibrator.com

  2. signal converted to digital signal which shows the reading corresponding to the pressure on digital display. It basically uses a pressure sensor, which converts the pressure into electronic signal. There are many pressure sensors available, but the most common sensor used in digital pressure gauge is piezoelectric pressure sensor. This sensor consists of a diaphragm with piezoresistive element. When pressure is applied on this diaphragm, it gets deflected and this deflection causes change in resistance, which ultimately causes change in current, and this change of current is proportional to the applied pressure. Hence, the pressure is converted into electric current which is then converted in digital signal and is shown as reading of pressure. Digital pressure gauges are preferred over analogue pressure gauges, because, these have backlighting, these are battery operated, these show min/max values, and they have readability. Accuracy of the digital meters is better than analogue meters and is expressed as a percentage of the measurement span. So digital pressure gauges have many advantages over analogue pressure gauges, hence preferred. Tel: (65) 6779 9272 Website:tiscalibrator.com
