  3. 1. Prescription for Hope • Evidence-based program • Created in 2009 • Wraparound Project in San Francisco • NNHVIP – over 30 members • Proven recidivism results • 30.8% to 4.6%

  4. Goals • Reduce violent injury recidivism and thus readmission to the Smith Level 1 Shock Trauma Center • Decrease repeated criminal activity and overall violence • Develop effective life skills • Provide community education • Network with community agencies and programs to provide accessible services for participant and family assistance and development

  5. How? • Promote personal and family empowerment • Create wraparound services and links to community programs through intensive case management guided by the Violence Intervention Specialist • Address risk factors which perpetuate violence and criminal activity

  7. 2. Soaring High • Graduates of Prescription for Hope • Currently evolving to incorporate other victims of violence • Facilitated by RxH LCSW and violence intervention specialists

  9. 3. EKG • Educating Kids about Gun violence • Medical Consequences • Legal Consequences • Collaborative with the Marion County Prosecutors Office • Present at schools and community centers – adaptable

  11. 4. Project Life • Collaborative group with Marion County Public Health Department and Marion County Prosecutors Office • Focus on youth convicted or found true of a gun charge • Referred by Marion County Juvenile Probation

  14. 1. ENCARE • Emergency Nurses Cancel Alcohol Related Emergencies • Emergency Nurses Association • Discussion re. alcohol abuse, motor vehicle safety and drinking and driving

  15. 2. D.E.A.D. • Distracted, Excessive Speeding, Aggressive and DUI (D.E.A.D.) Driving Project • Court ordered for those with moving violation or DUI • 30 minute presentation by Trauma Surgeon • Personal true stories
