  4. 2) Politics – Getting the Go Ahead • Who are the key stakeholders? • Where/Who are the barriers? • Who is the best political business partner? • You will need this business partner • No partner, no go... Don't bother.

  5. 3) Determine Minimal Feature Set To Meet The Need • Determine Needs • Research Domain • User Discussions • Domain Experts Find out what they need, not what they want...

  6. 4) Choosing the Technologies • Not as important as you may think • Are the technologies capable of meeting the minimal feature set? • In-house expertise

  8. 6) Create a Project Charter • Manage client expectation • Flag in the ground • Covers your ass • Include key stakeholders – i.e Weekly updates

  9. 7) Implementation • Human Resources – a pain in the butt • Human Resources – By far the largest expense • Use Tools! (i.e. Jira, Confluence, Zephyr) • Design trumps Overtime, avoiding the Rabbit Hole • Testing – Easily forgotten / ignored • User feedback – A critical step
