  2. Are trials and sorrows a normal part of life? • John 16 : 33 - I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” • 1 Peter 4 : 12 - Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. • Matthew 6 :33, 34 -Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Purpose of trials and sorrow • Romans 5: 3-5 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation • 1 Corinthians 1: 4-5 - He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 5 For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ

God’s promises to us in the midst of trials & sorrow • Jesus our mediator (High Priest) is praying for us (Hebrews 4: 14 -16) • The Holy Spirit is our guide, comforter and will never leave us ( John 14:16) • 1 Corinthians 1: 5 - For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. • Romans 8 : 28 - And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them
