Use of An SME in the Course Design Phase ~ Top Tips! • Give clear expectations for the scope & role of SME in the project • Conduct an audit of all available material for possible exploitation • Conduct mutual visits to see training in action – 2-way process • Cover any safety points – KTPs, KLPs – to consider? • Produce list of necessary terminology & real-world jargon • Creation of effective & authentic assessment strategy • In keeping with national cse design protocols • Official approval, as per national protocols

Use of An SME in the Delivery & Evaluation Phases ~ Top Tips! • Give clear expectations for the scope & role of SME in these phases • To be on hand to monitor and advise • To team / tandem teach where possible • To use authentic materials in classroom situation • To use real-world simulations / trg situations, where available • Put emphasis on the correct use of the specialist language in context • To adhere to an effective assessment strategy • To feed in ‘Lessons Learned’
