The three-dimensional shapes on the first few slides are examples of solid figures, or solids. When a solid is formed by polygons, it is called a polyhedron.
Example 1: Tell whether the solid is a polyhedron. If so, identify the shape of the bases. Then name the solid.
Example 2: Find Faces and Edges Use the diagram at the right. 1) Name the polyhedron. 2) Count the number of faces and edges. 3) List an congruent faces and congruent edges.
Example 3: Sketch a Polyhedron Sketch a triangular prism.
