Manufacturing Process • Core ingredient: Pine wood chips. • Cooked in a solution of sodium hydroxide, to remove the lignin, fiber glue. • Turned into a fiber, then cleaned and refined. • Entered into a Fourdrinier machine, or paper making machine. • Paper heated up and run through a set of gears to create waves. • Glue applied to the peaks of waves, then applied to top and bottom layers.

Factoids • In 1992 we produced more than 25 million tons of corrugated cardboard. • As well as another 6 million tons of non-corrugated cardboard. • Favored material for boxing and transportation for consumer products. • Appeal: cheap to produce, has a high resistance against tearing, bursting, splitting, for a paper element
