  3. Carteret County Commissioners Each Commissioner is elected for his or her county. Here are the of Carteret County Commissioners.

  6. The five City Council members are George Ballou, William Taylor, Demus Thompson, Harvey Walker, and Diane Warrender* City Council *Each person is in charge of each part of the government.

  7. City Commissioners The City Commissioners and the Mayor decide the rules for the city. There are five elected Morehead City commissioners.

  8. The City Council Manager’s job is “how” to best carry out the plansof the city. City Council Manager The Morehead City Council Manager is David Whitlow. He has been serving since September 4,2012.

  10. Legislature Our Legislative Building is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. North Carolina’s name for the legislature is the General Assembly.

  11. (Also known as the North Carolina General Assembly) North Carolina Congress Congress is a group of people that makes laws for North Carolina. It is made of two groups.

  12. North Carolina State Senate The government is a system that directs a group of people.

  13. North Carolina House of Representatives The Speaker of the House of Representatives is Tom Tillis. He is the leader of the house. There are 120 Houses of Representatives.

  14. State Governorof North Carolina To be eligible for governor, a person has to be 30 years old, a United States citizen for five years, and a North Carolina resident for two years before election.

  15. North Carolina State District Court This is lowest level of state courts. This is where less serious cases are heard. Such as small claim civil cases, and domestic and juvenile cases.

  16. North Carolina Superior Court The Superior Court is one level above the district court. The court hears cases dealing with money over $5,000. Wow!!!

  18. Bill A bill is not the kind of dollar bill you have in your wallet.

  19. What is a Bill? A bill is a written idea for a law and must be passed by the legislature.
